"What should I ask for?"
The following was prompted in study of Mark 6:
Q: Mom, "what should I ask for?"
A: Daughter, you should
Ask
Seek
Knock
A.S.K.,
for:
Lord, please give me
- a spirit-filled, [God's Kingdom] effective & abundant life, in Christ (Jn. 10:10)
- a gentle and humble spirit: a readiness to be shown (as Elisabeth Elliott teaches on)(Matt. 11:28-30)
- the will & the want. { the desire and the power } to- do what pleases you (Phil. 2:13)
- a gorgeous appearance- one only available when you, LORD, let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me
- a gospel-conformed view of, appreciation for & stewardship of my physical body: your holy temple
- a strong grasp (understanding) of and fiercely firm grip on your promises 🌈
- Strong legs in order to chase after your own heart, Lord. imperfect & fervent- stumbling sticks.
- A soft, moldeable heart. a pliable will. the ability to have my will bent toward's yours
- a heart set apart for you, Jesus. a consecrated life of- giving you my first and best love
- lips of bold praise and thanksgiving for all that you've done, are doing, and will do ♱
- a heart full of gratitude & of your living word. you are my shepherd; i am perfectly provided for.
- ears {free of cultural debris} attuned to your voice, Father
- eyes that focus upon the
temporaleternal: God & people - feet that remain pointed in the direction of a radical commitment to following you, Jesus
- arms that daily disrobe my fleshly desires of pursuing sinful [selfish & fearful] paths -> comfort
- an unquenchable thirst to drink of your living water, to engage with you personally- each day
- a thought life that meditates upon that which is pleasing to you Lord: your living word; your very 💜
- a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to you O God- your love endures forever (Ps. 40 & 136)
- open hands that regularly practice bringing the hard things to you and laying down my burdens
- an unbelief daily surrendered to you- Jesus, please help me to trust you more each day

She went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?”

Herodias (her mother) knew exactly what she wanted. Her weighty influence --> life/death.
